Nintendo DSi Console

The Nintendo DSi console is set to be released in Australia, Europe, and the United States in early April 2009. And as people reserve their systems and think about the excitement of getting a new Nintendo console, many people are also wondering what games will be available for the Nintendo DSi, and what games might be coming in the future.

Nintendo DSi consoles are compatible with all existing Nintendo DS games. This gives Nintendo DSi users a wide variety of games even before the new system is released. From adventure games to racing games to cooking guides, there’s something for everyone who wants to play.

The incorporation of the DSi Shop also means downloadable games for the Nintendo DSi console, in much the same way that Nintendo Wii players can download games from the Wii Shop Channel. The DSiWare games, as they’re known, include titles like Paper Airplane, Solitaire DSi, UNO, and WarioWare: Snapped! for the Nintendo DSi.

One aspect of game play that some may feel they’re losing with the Nintendo DSi is due to the elimination of the Nintendo Game Boy Advance game slot in the new design. The decision was made to improve portability, but it also means Nintendo DSi consoles are not backward compatible the way the Nintendo DS and the Nintendo DS Lite are. This also means the Nintendo DSi is not compatible with the Nintendo DS RumblePak or the grip used to play Guitar Hero: On Tour and Guitar Hero: On Tour Decades.

One of the features added to the Nintendo DSi console is the incorporation of two cameras. Currently, these cameras are fun for taking pictures, but Nintendo may decide to create games for the Nintendo DSi that utilize facial or motion recognition for game play. This would expand on the touch screen already in use by Nintendo DS and Nintendo DSi consoles, and would take the motion sensitive games of the Nintendo Wii a step further. This is just one example of the technological advances of video games that make them fun for a lot of people.

Nintendo has done a good job appealing to a wide demographic with its games. Everyone who wants to try the systems can find a game they enjoy. The DSi is no different. Nintendo is sure to continue releasing games that appeal to a wide variety of players, and continue releasing games that take advantage of the cutting-edge technology used to develop the game consoles.

The Nintendo DSi is scheduled to be released in the United States on April 5, 2009 for $169.99. It will be available in matte black or matte blue. In the UK it will be available on the 3rd of April for £150.
